Some sad news today. Here's a copy of an annoucement on the official site: We promised we would update you as to the future of the band with Island Records as soon as we knew what was happening. Well now we do, and we’re sorry to say that Island have decided to let us go. The sad fact is that, due to various reasons, we were not as commercially successful as the label expected us to be. This meant that they couldn’t continue to support us financially and let us grow, as would happen in an ideal world, into the hugely phenomenal band we all know they will be. But this is not the end of Chikinki! As we’ve already told you, we have around 30 new tracks, all of them amazing, and the boys are starting to make waves abroad. Our new songs are simply to good to ignore and rest assured someone will take us on, so expect us back soon to conquer the charts and show everyone what we’re made of! Finally we’d just like to take this chance to thank everyone for their support and we hope you’ll continue that support in the future. As the announcement says, this is not the end of the band. Another label is bound to be knocking on their door soon. In the meantime, keep checking back here for updates as and when we get them. |
